The
annual festival of the temple is celebrated on Kumbham (February
-March). The ten-day festival extends from "Karthika"
to "Uthram". The celebration starts with the hoisting
of the holy flag (kodimaram) on the first day by the Thantri (Chief
Priest). On the ninth day of the festival, "Shivali"
(Elephant procession with band),"Panchavadyam" (a type
of band) are also conducted. Special Poojas are conducted during
these festival days. The eighth day of the festival is one of
the important days of the temple. This day is celebrated as "Makamthozhal".
This is celebrated on the same day of "Chottanikkara Makamthozhal".
Worshiping Amma during "Midhunam Rashi" on this day
is considered one of the most blessed rites. "Makamtozhzl"
will start from 2.00 PM on the day. Thousands of devotees throng
this temple to get a glance of the Goddess during this day

Thrikkarthika
is the birthday of Pisharikovilamma. This is celebrated in Karthika
star of the month Vrischikam (November-December). Special poojas
are conducted during this day. The most important event during
this day is Thrikkarthika Vilakku. On the evening "Laksha
Deepam" is conducted, i.e. oil lamps are arranged all over
the temple and lighted. It is a unique experience to watch whole
temple lighted with oil lamps.
Navarathri
Celebration
Navarathri is celebrated in the temple on the month of Kanni (September-October)
during the days Durgashtami, Mahanavami and Vijayadasami, which
are the Astami, Navami and Dasami of the month Kanni respectively.
Vidyarambham is also conducted in the temple on VijayaDasami day.
